Appalachian Highway Poppies

Some scenes demand to be painted — and the vibrant poppies lining Highway 515 through the North Georgia mountains were one of those moments Marian could not pass by. The poppies burst with color against the soft Appalachian backdrop, their delicate petals rendered with the transparency and freshness only watercolor can achieve. This exhibition-quality painting was featured in the Georgia Watercolor Society’s 2010 Members’ Exhibition and earned an Honorable Mention in the Minnesota Watercolor Society’s 2010 Spring Show.
